The second-hand shopping app has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying every member regarding the update. Social Media Backlash Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display a different size category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping. Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with other platforms. They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, which has left users frustrated. Measurement Approach Changes Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10. The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. User Accounts One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. Another user, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as size 20–22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said. Necessary Adjustments A different user, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing". "Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said. Marketplace Information The service features exceeding 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK. It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
